GAU CULTURAL HERITAGE MANAGEMENT DOCUMENTARY DOCUMENTARY OF TURKISH CYPRIOT EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Girne American University (GAU) Cultural Heritage Management Publication of the “500- year History:  Cyprus Turkish Documentary” preview took place. 

Before the screening of the “Turkish Cypriot of Educational Documentary” directed by Turkish Cypriot writer screenwriter, director and GAU academician Ferhan Atik, the participants of the documentary made short speeches.

GAU Founding Rector, Serhat Akpınar, made a speech before the screening of the Cyprus documentary of Turkish Cypriot educational history and stated that when GAU was first established, they set out with the slogan “It is the past that creates the future” and since then as a university, they have had as a mission of various basic elements that connects the future to the past in every development process and the fulfilment of the social responsibility.

Akpınar stated that “the Turkish Cypriot Educational Documentary” has come into being with the accumulation of time and great effort and emphasized that it is an unprecedented historical document.

Akpınar also said, “In this period when the Turks have been questioning the past, we want to leave this to the future with our educators who have witnessed all the educational processes we passed through and all kinds of materials and processes that shed light on these processes.

Educator Ulus Ilgat said, “I’m very impressed by this documentary. I worked as a teacher for 37 years and there were a lot of traumas in the history of Cyprus. When I started my education in 1963, I could not attend school because of the conflicts. We had all the fears in those years. We are confident that the TRNC will rise further in the future.”

İley Fedai Taşkın spoke on behalf of her father, Halit Taşkın and she said in her speech, “The preparation of the Turkish Cypriot Educational Documentary means a lot to me,”. I have followed my father’s footsteps. Thank you very much for inviting me on this memorable day.”

Director Ferhat Atik, in his speech, said: One day I realized the ones who write history are not the ones who live it” Years ago I felt lonely and thought I had to prepare this documentary. I met the teacher Harid Fedai. He was very helpful to me about this topic. So, we decided to do these projects so that we could say “we exist”. I would like to thank Serhat Akpınar, the Founding Rector of GAU. We have more projects ahead of us and we will meet you again.

Following the documentary screening, a plaque of appreciation was presented to the contributors by the Founding rector of GAU, Serhat Akpınar.

Physiotherapy Center

The Founding Rector of Girne American University, Serhat Akpınar, announced that they are preparing to open “the Physiotherapy Center” in the Rehabilitation Centre within the framework of their medical and health investments.

Akpınar explained through social media: we have not forgotten our elders who have created and taken us from our past to the future.

In the internal expansions our Smart Health Clinic within the Health and Medical Faculties, we haven’t forgotten the elders who have created and taken us from the past to the future. We are getting ready to hold these hands lovingly. We are preparing to open “Smart Health Rehabilitation Clinic” and “Physiotherapy Centre” which will be established within the Faculties of Medicine and Health. Kyrenia is getting an important health centre. The preparations for the clinic in Nicosia are about to be completed in KAU Cloud Building.
